Lasers are used in a variety of medical fields. We are fortunate to incorporate laser dentistry into our practice. This technology enables us to perform many traditional dental procedures with less anesthesia or in most cases, no anesthesia at all. In our office, we use the YSGG laser, also known as the Waterlase MD and the Millineum Laser. These products are made by Biolase technology. The laser uses a combination of the YSGG laser energy and water, called Hydrophotonics, to perform dental procedures. This allows us to perform a less invasive and more precise treatment, that conserves healthy tooth structure. It provides our patients with a more pleasant experience because it minimizes the patient’s anxiety. Many procedures performed with the laser technology do not require anesthetic. This provides a more relaxing environment and a more soothing experience. Patients typically experience less bleeding, swelling, and post-op discomfort.
